I am happy to announce our new Pregnancy Yoga class in Acle starting in February!
Pregnancy is an exciting and transformative time in a woman's life, but it can also be challenging, both physically and emotionally. Yoga is a great way to support the body and mind during this special time, as it can help to alleviate common pregnancy discomforts, such as back pain, and improve overall well-being.
Research has shown that yoga can be beneficial for pregnant women. A study published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology found that yoga can help to reduce stress and anxiety during pregnancy, which can have a positive impact on both mother and baby. Additionally, practicing yoga can also help to improve sleep, reduce fatigue, and alleviate some of the physical discomforts that can occur during pregnancy.
This Pregnancy Yoga class in Acle is designed to help expectant mothers to relax, connect with their body and baby, and prepare for birth. In addition to traditional yoga poses and breathing exercises, the class also includes elements of hypnobirthing and biomechanics for birth.
Hypnobirthing is a method of birthing that aims to reduce fear and tension during labor. It uses self-hypnosis and visualization techniques to help women to feel more relaxed and in control during the birthing process. During the class you will learn techniques that you can practice throughout your pregnancy and use during birth to empower you to stay calm and in control.
Biomechanics for birth is a method that focuses on the alignment of the body to optimize the birth process. It helps to ensure that the pelvis is in the best position for the baby to be born and to reduce the risk of birth injury. We will practice postures and movements that will help you to get baby into an optimal position for birth and also learn the best way to move during labour to help your baby move through efficiently and easily.
This Pregnancy Yoga class is suitable from 12 weeks of pregnancy (after your first scan). I have qualifications in both prenatal and postnatal yoga as well as having personal experience of pregnancy and being a mum. The class is a welcoming and supportive environment where expectant mothers can connect with others in the same stage of life and share their experiences.
In addition to this group Pregnancy Yoga class, I also offer one-to-one Yoga Therapy for Pregnancy sessions. These sessions are tailored to the individual needs of the expectant mother and can help to address specific concerns or discomforts that she may be experiencing.
One of the benefits of one-to-one Yoga Therapy for Pregnancy is that it can help to alleviate fears around birth. The sessions can include breathing and visualization techniques, which can help to reduce anxiety and increase feelings of calm and control. I can help you understand your mindset and beliefs around pregnancy, birth and motherhood and then guide you to use yoga practices to feel stronger, more confident and happier in yourself as a you move through this time in life. Additionally, the sessions can also include specific yoga poses and movements that can help to prepare the body for birth and ease common pregnancy discomforts. As yoga therapy is completely person-centred what we do will focus on helping your body and needs to help you feel as good as you can.
Another benefit of one-to-one Yoga Therapy for Pregnancy is that it can help to prepare for the transition into motherhood. Whether you are a new mum or you already have children, pregnancy and a new baby changes life a lot and we could all do with some extra support through this time. These sessions can include discussion and guidance on topics such as self-care, postpartum recovery, and bonding with baby as well as incorporating yoga practices that can support you through this time. Each yoga therapy session in as unique as the client attending and what we do will be tailored to you and your specific needs. Where appropriate, these sessions can also include your partner, so they can be involved in your joint journey to parenthood. This can be a great way for them to understand what is happening for you, learn more about the birthing process and to feel more involved and supportive.
My Pregnancy Yoga class and one-to-one Yoga Therapy for Pregnancy sessions offer a supportive and holistic approach to help expectant mothers to feel more relaxed, connected, and prepared for birth and motherhood. If you are interested in joining our classes or booking a one-to-one session, please feel free to contact me for more information.
